Betpawa PLWK11: Kotoko return to winning ways, Heart of Lions still winless

Kumasi Asante Kotoko ended their three-game winless streak with a 1-0 win over Reigning Champions Medeama Sporting Club at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Sheriff Mohammed put the porcupines ahead in the 60th minute from the spot kick, proving to be the only goal that ensued from the two sides.


Ogum’s side had gone three games without a win, losing to Nsoatreman, Samartex 1996 and Dreams FC in the run.

The Porcupines last loss against Dreams led to some fans booing the team after the team’s latest loss at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The team’s latest win against Medeama SC takes them 12th on the league log, scored 8 goals and conceded 9.


Elsewhere in Tamale,  

Karela United revived their winning form with a 2-1 victory against Aduana Stars at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.

Having endured a five-game winless streak, Karela United found themselves in 15th place in the league standings with 12 points.

In the encounter with Aduana Stars, Samuel Attah Kumi netted the opening goal in the 35th minute, giving the home side a one-goal lead at halftime.


Upon resumption, Evans Adomako extended Karela United’s advantage with a goal in the 60th minute.

However, Gabriel Akwasi Mensah managed to pull one back for Aduana Stars in the 78th minute.

Despite the loss, Aduana Stars maintained their position on the league table with 21 points.

In Hohoe, Bechem United condemned Heart of Lions to their fourth loss of the season.

Augustine Okrah put the Hunters ahead in the 19th minute, his 6th goal of the season for Bechem United this season.

Gabriel Tenlep added the second for the Hunters in the 58th minute before Samuel Agbenyega got the equalizer for the newly promoted side.

Heart of Lions are currently rock bottom of the league with 7 points from a possible 33.

Fatawu Salifu’s side have drawn 7 times this season and lost four times.

Heart of Lions remains the only side yet to pick up a win this season after 11 games.

Eric Owusu Afriyie’s hat trick inspired RTU to end their four-match winless streak with a convincing 3-1 win over Dreams FC at the Aliu Mahama Stadium on Sunday.

The win moves RTU to 11th position on the league standings, level on 14 points with Dreams who are 10th placed.
