2023 Africa Games: Bawumia, others visit games sites with tournament 100 days away

Vice President, Mahamudu Bawumia, the Sports Minister among other dignitaries have toured the two designated facilities for the 2023 Africa Games.

The Vice President and his entourage first visited the site at Borteyman which according to contractors is 70-80% complete before heading to University of Ghana.

This tour marks the 100-day countdown of the 2023 Africa Games which will start on March 8, 2024 Accra, Ghana.

The tour started with state officials, the Local Organising Committee of the 13th Africa Games, and other high profiled people touring the Borteyman Sports Complex, Ghana’s flagship event centre for sports.

The centre according to the President of Ghana will be transformed to a sports college at the end of the 2023 Africa Games.

From Borteyman, the Vice President and his entourage headed to the University of Ghana where they toured the Games Village that has the dome sites.

After the short tour, Dr. Kwaku Ofosu Asare dispelled the notion that Ghana ever thought of pulling out in the bid to host the Africa Games for the very first time and insisted that the country is well on course to host the best tournament in history.

Speaking to the media, the Sports Minister reiterated government’s commitment in ensuring that the games will come on in Ghana no matter what and called on state agencies to come on board as sponsors to help the country give the continent the ultimate Ghana experience.

The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia also highlighted the need to give the rest of the continent a toast of what it means to host such a tournament and called on all to make sure the event becomes a success.
