Ghana qualifies to 2024 AWCON- We are hungry and willing to play there- Black Queens coach

Black Queens Evelyn Badu celebrates Ghana's qualification to the 2024 WAFCON

Black Queens head coach, Nora Hauptle has tagged her team’s qualification to the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as an achievement that the Queens deserve.

She said this after guiding Ghana to next year’s competition in Morocco despite suffering a 1-0 loss to Namibia in South Africa.

A 3-1 win over Namibia in the first leg proved crucial in determining the Black Queens fate as Ghana’s National Women’s Football team progressed via a 3-2 aggregate win.

Speaking in a post game interview, the Swiss trainer talked about the game extensively before switching focus to the upcoming competition.

“The performance today is closed because we qualified. Ghana is back in the WAFCON and we are hungry and willing to play there and I think a lot of the players deserve it.”

“We have some young players, for them it is the first time. Generally we have a very young squad…I am proud of this year, we won 10 out of 11 games and I think we can have a nice Christmas.”

Ghana last played at the WAFCON in 2018 but failed to progress from the group stage.
