Black Queens head coach, Nora Hauptle, says her team got a great performance from players who stepped off the bench in the final qualification match against Namibia.

Ghana lost 0-1 to Namibia but the result was enough to get the Black Queens through to the 2024 Women’s AFCON in Morocco via a 3-2 aggregate win.

This is Ghana’s first loss under Hauptle but a 3-1 win at the Accra Sports Stadium in the first leg proved to be the deciding factor in qualification.

Speaking after the game, Hauptle picked out the performance of players off the team’s bench in the qualification.

“I think we had an excellent bench today so every player who came in brought in more quality, this willingness to fight through this game.”

Hauptle took a swipe at the officials for Namibia’s high set piece count stating, “They-the Namibians- could only get dangerous in set pieces. I think the referees allowed them too many set pieces to be honest. Every time when somebody fell, they whistled so for me I have a big question mark to that.”

Ghana returns to the Women’s AFCON after missing out on competing in the last edition.
