Why couldn’t we play Kudus, African players like everybody else- David Moyes quizzes

West Ham United manager David Moyes has spoken about the unfair treatment his team has endured after playing without African players in West Ham’s goalless draw with Brighton and Hove Albion.

He said this in the post game presser after The Hammers played out the game without African players headlined by Ghana’s Mohammed Kudus due to their 2023 AFCON commitment.

Kudus and Nayef Aguerd have been called up to their national teams for the continental championship that kicks off on January 13.

Liverpool’s Egyptian forward Mohammed Salah played and scored twice in The Reds 4-2 win over Newcastle on January 1 and Moyes questioned why his team wasn’t given the same treatment.

“I just think that why could we not have got to play out African players same as everybody else…I just don’t see why at this point, you would play a game and you would be disadvantaged by some of your players not being able to play.”

Kudus is in line to feature heavily for Ghana’s Black Stars at this month’s tournament in Cote D’Ivoire.
