A group of sports journalists have secured a permit from the Ghana Police Service to demonstrate against the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports over the falling standards of football in Ghana.

Citi Sports can confirm that the Ghana Police Service will release an official statement at 14:00 GMT today to announce the demonstration route.

The group includes notable sports journalists Veronica Commey, Saddick Adams and Patrick Osei Agyemang; Commey voiced her frustrations about the poor state of Ghana football on Citi FM’s Sports Panorama. (Click highlighted text to watch video)

The demonstration has been planned to take place on Wednesday, February 14 in Ghana’s capital, Accra to register the displeasure over the state of football in the country.

According to Saddick Adams, the event is “a peaceful walk to present a petition” that the passion of the nation-football-is dying and that “there is no hate” but a “positive anger” to change the state of affairs.

The planned demonstration comes on the heels of Ghana’s first round exit from the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire that had the Black Stars fail to win a game in three outings.

This is the second AFCON edition in a row that Ghana got tossed out at the group stage with the 2021 AFCON being the worst performance by Ghana in the history of the competition after picking just a point.
