Ghana winger Joseph Paintsil has expressed his team’s disappointment over missing out on a win to open the new Major League Soccer (MLS) season but was upbeat about the team’s overall performance.

Paintsil’s Los Angeles Galaxy drew 1-1 with Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami before a packed out Dignity Health Sports Park.

Galaxy scored the game’s first goal through a converted penalty by Dejan Joveljic in the 75th minute with Paintsil winning the penalty in his debut game for Galaxy. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

However, Messi struck deep in injury time to seal the draw in Paintsil’s first game in the MLS after signing four year deal worth $9 million to move from Belgian side KRC Genk earlier this month.

Speaking in the post game interview, the 26 year old highlighted the team’s highlight and lowlight moment in the game.

“We are disappointed (with draw) but we are good with the kind of football with the football that we played. It’s really disappointing that we let these three points go and we needed to have a good start to the season. All hope is not gone, we did a fantastic job. It was just a bit of luck I think that Messi had the last goal.”
