AFRICAN GAMES: Determination, perseverance, commitment has paid off- Dr. Bawumia

Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, believes the commitment, determination and perseverance of the Nana Akufo-Addo led government has led to the construction of world class facilities to host the 13th African Games.

Ghana will host the African Games for the first time with the competition running from March 8 to March 23 at the renovated University of Ghana Stadium and newly built Borteman Sports Complex.

Speaking at the official commissioning of the University of Ghana Stadium, Dr. Bawumia, reiterated the infrastructural legacy of hosting the African Games.

“We were determined and we persevered to the vision and commitment of the government of His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo. Our vision and commitment has paid off and today Ghana has built world class sports facilities which are not only making it possible for us to host the African Games but will also leave the country a huge infrastructural legacy which will significantly impact sports development.”

Eight sports disciplines will be hosted at the University of Ghana Stadium including athletics and cycling.
