Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has provided an encouraging update on the return of Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey to action.

Partey has been out injured for almost five months and has missed significant time since picking up the thigh injury in the lead up to a UEFA Champions League group stage game against Sevilla in Spain.

Speaking to the press ahead of Arsenal’s English Premier League game against Sheffield United, Arteta noted Partey’s involvement in training sessions as proof of the former Atletico Madrid player’s return to action for The Gunners.

“Thomas had a session before the last game and now he’s done two consecutive sessions so he should be part of the squad on Monday.”

The Gunners have registered high scoring wins in three straight games heading into the Sheffield game; Arsenal beat West Ham 6-0, Burnley 5-0 and Newcastle United respectively.

Arsenal has been in fine goal scoring form as the London side continues to push for a first Premier League title win in 21 years mainly without Partey who has played just four times this season.

Partey’s injuries forced him to miss Ghana’s campaign at the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire.
