Minimize challenges Ghana will face hosting the 13TH African Games- Nii Lante Vanderpuye to Sports Minister

Member of Parliament for Odododiodio Constituency, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has called on the Minister of Youth and Sports and the Local Organizing Committee of the 13th African Games to minimize challenges connected to hosting the Games as much as possible.

He said this in his address to Ghana’s Parliament as the country prepares to host the African Games for the first time. The Games will run from March 8 to March 23.

The newly built Borteyman Sports Complex and the renovated University of Ghana Stadium will serve as the main host venues and in a separate charge to the direct stakeholders of the African Games, the former Sports Minister called for the provision of stable and reliable electricity. On inevitable challenges the host nation is bound to face organizing such a grand competition, Honourable Vanderpuye said,

“It is possible that we’re going to have few challenges but I will spur the Minister (Mustapha Ussif) and the LOC to make sure that we minimize the challenges.”

“Every Games in the world suffer a form of challenge or the other we should expect that and we should minimize the challenges that will beset these Games so that at the end of it, our credit rating in these Games will be up.”

A few challenges related to the completion of renovation projects at some host venues have emerged forcing the start date of competition in badminton for instance, to be moved to March 7.
