13TH AFRICAN GAMES: Ghana misses out on podium in Men’s 100 Metre freestyle swimming final

Ghana’s Harry Stacey has missed out on the podium in the swimming competition after finishing fourth in the Men’s 100 Metre Freestyle final.

The 23 year old recorded a time of 51.44 at the Borteyman Sports Complex in the 13th African Games in Ghana as the host nation continues its wait for a medal finish at the time of writing.

Stacey finished behind South Africa’s Jimmie Clayton (49.29), Alexander Skinner of Namibia (49.97) and Egypt’s Abdalla Nasr (50.99).

Mathieu Ousmane Seye of Senegal, Algeria’s Hamour Abdelhakim and Mehdi-Nazim Benbara and Egypt’s Ali Khalafalla rounded up the results standings in according fashion.

Stacey’s finish comes on Day One of the Games following the official opening ceremony of the multi-sport competition at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon.

In the Women’s 200 Metre Butterfly final, Egypt’s Nour Elgendy and Jasmine Eissa finished first and third respectively with South Africa’s Leigh Mc Morran finishing second to claim silver.
