Head coach of Ghana’s National Under 20 Men’s Football Team, the Black Satellites, Desmond Ofei, says he is satisfied with his team’s performance in its first outing in the 13th African Games.

He said this in the post game interview after seeing his side draw goalless with the Republic of Congo in the opening game of Group A at the Games at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The African Games is being held in Ghana for the first time with the Accra Stadium hosting the men’s football competition and the Cape Coast Stadium hosting the women’s competition primarily.

Despite the draw, the Black Satellites head coach pointed to anxiety as a major reason for the outcome on Day One of the football competition.

“Satisfied? I think we are. It’s the first game of the tournament. In the first half we were a bit too anxious that’s why went a bit too early with the long balls. We didn’t have enough control of the game and that’s why we changed shape a bit.”

“I think we created enough chances…we should have been more clinical with the chances that we got but we had a bit of tough luck today.”

Ghana takes on Gambia next on March 12 at the Accra Stadium.
