Ghana National Men’s Beach Volleyball player, Paul Akan, has bemoaned the late provision of equipment to the team.

He said this in an interview after Ghana’s loss to Morocco in two straight sets in the 13th African Games quarterfinals matchup at the Laboma Beach.

Ghana’s duo of veteran Seidu Adjanaku and Akan battled hard but lost to the experienced Moroccan side 16-21 and 17-21 in the best of three game series.

After touching on injuries affecting Adjanaku’s ability to play at his best, Akan went on to speak about the team’s struggles with the competition ball that the team did not train with in the lead up to the competition despite making it past the group stage and Round of 12 elimination stage.

“It makes our game not more comprehensive like before. When we are playing (with this ball), it makes it easy for we to volley the ball and for we dig the ball but it makes it easy for we to be giving out points to the opponents.”

“The rhythm of the ball honestly is different from the one we used to train” Akan said.

Morocco take on Botswana in the semifinals.
