Accra 2023: Egypt, Morocco win Beach Volleyball Competition

Morocco and Egypt have emerged winners of the 13th African Games after topping South Africa and Mozambique respectively in the finals.

In the Men’s Division, Morocco beat South Africa in two straight sets in a showdown between the African powerhouses.

In the Women’s Division, fellow North African nation Egypt, were made to sweat for its win over Mozambique at the Laboma Beach.

Egypt recovered from a set down to tie the series before clinching the all-important third set to win the competition over Mozambique that enjoyed wonderful support from its contingent at the Games.

Nigeria won bronze in the Women’s Division, by beating Rwanda in two straight sets via a 22-20 and 21-12 result.

The Men’s Division had Botswana finish third after beating Sierra Leone to secure a podium finish.

Ghana got eliminated from the quarterfinals in both divisions but veteran player Seidu Adjanaku joined other legendary players including South Africa’s Leo Williams was recognized for his contribution to the development of beach volleyball growth in Africa.

The African Games will conclude on March 23.
