FIBA Africa 3×3 Basketball Council Chair Ambrose Tashobya is excited for what the subsequent days of competition in 3×3 Basketball in the 13th African Games brings.

He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports following the conclusion of games on Day One of the competition that was held at the University of Ghana Basketball Court.

The well attended event was headlined by the presence of Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif, Local Organizing Committee Chairman Dr. Kwaku Ofosu Asare and Ghana Basketball Federation President Ato Van-Ess.

After witnessing the first wave of games on the opening day, Ambrose Tashobya, said,

“Today has been a great day. To start is not always easy but finally it has started, competition was very good…so it’s been a good day, we hope we have three or four more other good days” and added that he expects

“More intense competition, more entertainment for the fans and hopefully we see the best teams advance.”

Ghana had a mixed outcome on the opening day as the female team won a game (21-12 win over Madagascar) but lost 4-21 to Egypt.

In the men’s division, Ghana beat Benin 16-11 but lost 12-16 to Madagascar.
