Accra 2023: We had one clear chance and we finished it- Desmond Ofei

Ghana v Senegal at 13th African Games

Head coach of Ghana’s National Under 20 Men’s Team-the Black Satellites, Desmond Ofei says his team isn’t a wasteful side and evidence of its efficiency was delivered in Ghana’s 1-0 win over Senegal.

Ofei said this in his postgame interview after guiding Ghana to the win over the highly rated West African nation; the win takes Ghana to the final of the 13th African Games football competition.

Substitute Michael Ephson scored the winner in the 83rd minute to put Ghana in line for its first gold medal in football since the 2011 edition in Mozambique.

The Satellites’ qualification to the final means that Ghana will be represented in the gold medal game in both the men’s and women’s division.

Speaking on the win, Ofei said, “They chose the long ball, which we were a bit surprised because we thought that they were going to play because it’s a good footballing playing team but that wasn’t the case.”

“The first half, we didn’t create enough chances not enough clear cut chances but we dug deep and eventually we got rewarded. My boys are not wasteful, we had one clear chance and we finished it. I can’t recall any part of the game where we squandered any chances.”
