Accra2023: Confident gold medal win gets us more support and exposure- Black Satellites HC

Head coach of Ghana’s National Under 20 Men’s Football Team (the Black Satellites), Desmond Ofei says Ghana’s gold medal win at the African Games is sure to get the team more support and exposure.

He said this in his interview after guiding the Black Satellites to beat Uganda 1-0 and win gold in the 13th African Games Men’s Football competition. Ghana won gold in the Women’s Division with a 2-1 win over Nigeria.

The gold medal win is the first for Ghana in men’s football at the African Games since the 2011 edition held in Mozambique.

Ofei pointed to applying elements in Ghana’s Football DNA was key to the gold medal win and is confident the win will lead to better outcomes. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“It’s a fantastic boost. We have a President (GFA Boss Kurt Okraku) who is very ambitious with fantastic ideas so I’m sure with this win, we will get more support, we will get more exposure, and it will help us grow this football nation. This is just the beginning.”

Jerry Afriyie’s strike in the 90th minute gave Ghana the win over Uganda.
