Boxing: Objective is to unearth talents- Opoku-Agyemang on “The Warriors Showdown” event

The General Manager of Twins Stars Boxing Promotion, Naana Lexis Akosua Opoku-Agyemang has emphasized the collaborative efforts between her organization and the Ghana Boxing Authority to unearth fresh talent in Ghana.

She lamented the current lack of recognition for the sport in the country.

Speaking at the press conference for the upcoming boxing event titled “The Warriors Showdown,” slated to take place at the SCC SSNIT Forecourt in Weija this weekend, Akosua Opoku-Agyemang expressed her eagerness to witness the emergence of new boxing talents under her promotion.

She drew inspiration from the recent African Games, underscoring the potential for growth and development within the sport.

In an interview with Citi Sports on the sidelines, Naana Lexis Akosua Opoku-Agyemang says the maiden edition of the “Warrior Showdown” will live up to expectations.

I’ll be so excited not just from my promotion but from other promotions because just as I said It’s been undermined.
A lot of people feel those who go even into that field of sports either are uneducated or they don’t understand where they are going.
They’re just in there to have fun and whatnot, but that is a space equally to help people make money.
It’s a lucrative space, it’s a space for them to be able to apply what they’ve learned in the boxing ring and for people to see what tolerance looks like when it comes to all forms of sports because every discipline in sports actually has its way of operating.
And so we’ll be super excited not just for our promotion company but for every boxer here in Ghana to take their talent very seriously, don’t get despaired when people are shooting the shots at you because it is consistency that will take you to the line line that you’re looking to be.
What I can tell you is they are phenomenal people, everybody has a unique style and that will give us an actual show.
We are not looking for where it is cooked up already and people say okay it’s not going to be that boring.
We’re going to their fixed marches here then the blab No, no, no, we don’t have any of those happening.
We know that the people who are coming in are young, vibrant, they have different sets of skills to be able to make the show what we wanted to be.
So it’s going to be a very fantastic show.
We want everybody to stay glued to their seat make sure that you if you haven’t secured a ticket to come in there, you have to try and do that.
