Team Ghana at 13th African Games

Head coach of Tema Youth Basketball Club, Emmanuel “Rubberman” Quaye, has tagged Ghana’s silver medal win at the 2023 African Games 3×3 Men’s Basketball event as remarkable.

Ghana made it to the final of the event held at the University of Ghana Basketball Court but missed out on winning gold after falling 16-11 to Algeria. Ghana’s female team exited at the quarterfinal stage.

The outing was Ghana’s best ever performance in basketball at the African Games and the veteran coach believes bagging the medal was remarkable.

“That was a very great job, that was a very remarkable result. African Games is very tough; to even be on that platform is very difficult so I have to congratulate the Basketball Federation, the coaches and players. They’ve done a good job” he said in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports before adding that

This prompted his call for youth oriented programs like the one Tema Youth runs on Saturdays at the Tema Community 4 Court to be replicated more across the country.
