Footy Legends GH honour retired footballers

Footy Legends GH organized its 2nd edition of the event dubbed “Honouring the Fathers” to pay tribute to retired footballers who tirelessly dedicated their lives to serving the nation.

Footy Legends GH, a working-class soccer enthusiast, organized this event not only to celebrate the past achievements of the soccer legends but also to provide crucial support for their well-being and offer practical assistance for their daily needs.

On the sidelines of the event, Alfred Nortey, the convener of Footy Legends GH, emphasized the need for Corporate Ghana to actively support initiatives like these, noting that their backing could significantly enhance the quality of life for retired footballers and recognize their enduring impact on Ghanaian football.

“This initiative is to honour them because we realize that as a nation we do not do well in honoring our heroes.

This initiative is designed to honour those who have a passion for the game and made us fall in love with the game.”

“We started this last year together with my groups and our partners.

This is an annual event to honour our retired footballers who are suffering. Additionally, this year we did a prostate screening and a medical checkup.”

The event featured a thrilling football match between the Ashiedu Keteke Old Stars and Footy Legends GH XI, which ended in a 2-2 draw at the Mantse Agbonaa Park.
