Communications Director of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA), Mohammed Amin Lamptey, has slammed the decision to score the bout between Ghana’s Bastie Samir and Nigeria’s Rasheed Idowu a technical draw and described the decision as illogical.

The heavyweight clash between Samir and Idowu for the UBO African Light Heavyweight belt in Accra this past weekend stirred up a lot of controversy due to the technical draw decision despite Samir suffering a brutal knockdown at the end of the second round.

However, the fight was surprisingly scored a technical draw despite the referee waving the fight off to the surprise of all gathered.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports, Amin Lamptey was equally perplexed by the decision and termed the decision as an illogical one.

“Bastie went to the canvas, he was knocked out. He went even off for about 30 minutes before he was revived. He had automatically lost the fight so how could that fight turn to become a technical draw?”

“It’s illogical so the GBA is not the ring announcer, GBA is not the scorekeeper, GBA is not the supervisor neither GBA is the promoter or matchmaker. So these are the people that the GBA is planning to invite to answer one or two questions.”

He added that the Ghana Boxing Authority will investigate the incident.
