Referees and judges can’t be manipulated by Ghana Boxing Authority- Amin Lamptey

Communications Director of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA), Mohammed Amin Lamptey, has registered his displeasure over the sheer volume of misinformation about the sports body.

In an exclusive interview with Citi Sports, he talked extensively about this issue in connection to the latest controversy to rock the GBA.

Ghanaian boxer Bastie Samir’s Universal Boxing Organization Africa Light Heavyweight bout against Nigerian Idowu Rasheed was shockingly scored a technical draw after the second round despite Samir suffering a brutal knockout and the referee waving the fight off.

The decision drew a sharp response from Lamptey who described the decision as illogical and added that reports connecting the GBA to the fight’s outcome as misinformation. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“The speculations, the misinformation and misconception that the GBA has done that several times is not true. The recent incident that happened, I don’t know why people want to pin it on the GBA. The GBA is not the referee, the GBA isn’t part of the judges, the GBA is like an authority just like the Ghana Football Association.”

“The referees, judges, ring announcers, score keepers are approved by the GBA but can never be manipulated or influenced by the GBA.”
