2024 PARIS Q: Black Bombers begin final Olympic Qualifier in Bangkok on Friday, May 24

Team Ghana’s quest for Olympic Games qualification begins today, Friday, May 24 with Amadu Mohammed leading the charge for the Black Bombers.

He will be the first of seven boxers to compete, facing off against De lo Santos Felix Jose Luis from the Dominican Republic on Friday, May 24, at 11:30 am GMT.

Ghana has brought seven boxers to Bangkok for this final qualifying round for the Paris Olympics.


The team includes Amadu Mohammed, Mark Kojovi Ahondjo, Theophilus Allotey, Joseph Commey, Henry Malm, Jonathan Tetteh, and Oneilla Sathoud.

Mark Kojovi Ahondjo will battle Mauritius’ Pierre Kennedy Joseph in the 92+kg division.

Joseph Commey, a representative at the African Games, will compete against Bajoku Shpetim from Kosovo in the 63.5kg category.

Theophilus Allotey faces a challenging opponent in Hungary’s Bernath Attila in the 51kg division, also on Sunday. Later, Jonathan Tetteh will take on Dominguez Loren Berto from Azerbaijan.

 


Additionally, Henry Malm and Oneilla Sathoud are set to compete against Bilrrashid of Libya and Langerova Monika of the Czech Republic in the 71kg and 75kg events, respectively.

Despite participating in two previous qualifying tournaments in Senegal and Italy in 2023 and 2024, no Ghanaian boxer has yet secured a spot in the Olympic Games.

3. Theophilus Kpakpo Allotey vrs Bernath Attila (Hungary) evening session, 25th May 2024. Bout no. 82 at the flyweight -51kg (R64)

4. Joseph Commey vrs Bajoku Shpetim (Kosovo) afternoon session, 26th May,2024. Bout no. 102 in the Light Welterweight -63.5kg (R64)

5. Henry Malm vrs Bilrrashid Mohammed (Libya) evening session, 26th May 2024. Bout no. 139 in the Light Middleweight -71kg (R64)

6. Jonathan Tetteh VRs Dominguez Loren Berto (Azerbaijan) evening session, 27th May,2024. Bout no. 192 in the Heavyweight- 92Kg (R64)

7. Oneilla Sathoud VRs Langerova Monika (Czech Republic) evening session 27th May,2024. Bout no. 200 Women’s Middleweight- 75Kg (R32)
