Alfred Duncan misses out on Conference League title again as Olympiacos beat Fiorentina

For the second season in a row, Fiorentina FC have missed out on winning an European title despite playing in two finals with Ghana midfielder Alfred Duncan featuring in both losses.

The Italian team lost 1-0 to Greek side Olympiacos in the UEFA Europa Conference League title with Morocco’s Ayoub El-Kaabi scoring the winning goal in the 116th minute in extra time.

Fiorentina lost 2-1 to West Ham United in the Conference League final in the 2023-2024 season with Jarrod Bowen scoring the winning goal.

In both losses, Ghana’s Alfred Duncan competed and came off the bench in the 74th minute replacing Arthur Melo in the loss to Olympiacos.

In 46 minutes, the 31 year old had 42 touches and completed 29 of 34 passes accurately while winning one of two ground duels.

He made one tackle and won one of three aerial duels in the contest as Fiorentina suffered another European heartbreak to close out the season.

In the 2023-2024 season, Duncan made 29 Serie A league appearances, scored two goals and added five assists. In the Conference League, Duncan made six appearances.
