Former Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club Board Member, Frank Nelson Nwokolo, has stated that the Phobia club is likely not to follow archrival Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s approach to player transfers.

He said this in an exclusive interview with Channel One Sports after Hearts finished 14th in the 2023-2024 Ghana Premier League season while Kotoko finished sixth.

Despite missing out on the second spot by two points, Kotoko has embarked on a massive purge of players to restructure the playing body.

At the time of writing, Kotoko has bid goodbye to 19 players including big names Danlad Ibrahim and Eric Serge Zeze. Striker Steven Mukwala recently announced his exit after his two year deal run out. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

Though Hearts finished in a far worse position than Kotoko, the Rainbow Club according to Frank Nelson, won’t replicate Kotoko’s model.

“We don’t apply the same type of trade even though we are in the same business they have their reasons. The important thing is that the management will sit down, the technical department will submit the report and they have to look at where are our opportunities, where are our strengths?”

“We found ourselves in the 14th position; for me it is a very bad performance last season so there is no two ways, no arguments about it.”
