Deputy Director-General of the National Sports Authority, Abdul Bawah Majeed, has seriously pushed back on the idea of not using sports facilities in Ghana for anything other than sports.

He said this in an exclusive interview with Channel One Sports in the wake of major backlash on the NSA over the handling of sports facilities in the country.

After addressing the controversy over an online video of a church service at the newly built Borteyman Sports Complex that surfaced recently, Bawah Majeed touched on the use of stadium facilities for other activities. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“I think that, as a country we are too much fixated about little things. Throughout the world, you see stadiums being used for other events either than sports. I agree that certain things need to be put in place to protect the pitch.”

“It is their understanding, it is their feeling that the pitches over the years have been used for other activities either than sports that the pitch is not protected that is the reason. Otherwise, I’m not sure it is an issue that a sporting facility is being used for any activity apart from sports. It is the way we use it and the way we maintain it that is the issue.”
