Following his run with the Black Stars as an assistant coach, George Boateng, has joined Coventry City Football Club as a first team coach.

Boateng’s appointment is one of three moves to the technical unit of Coventry after the 2023-2024 EFL Championship season. Rhys Carr and Aled Williams have been named first team coach and goalkeeping coach respectively.

The 48 year old Boateng joins the team he played for from 1998 to 1999 after joining the club from Dutch side Feyenoord. He played 57 games in all competitions and scored seven goals.

In his professional playing career, Boateng competed for English clubs Nottingham Forest, Hull City and Middlesborough. Speaking on the appointment, Coventry Manager Mark Robins stated,

“Their (Carr and Boateng) experience and work will greatly aid our work to maximize the performance and preparation of our team…and we are excited to begin working with them.”
