Mohammed Kudus’ star continues to shine with each passing game and the latest evidence of his surging popularity has placed him in the “Lionel Messi category”. The Argentine legend’s photo with a young Lamine Yamal in 2007 has gone viral in the wake of Yamal’s starring performance at the 2024 Euros.
Yamal, a 17 year old, winger ended the competition with a goal and four assists and was named as the Tournament Young Player of the Year after helping Spain win the competition.
In a near recreation of the iconic photo, a fan got his son to Kudus for the Black Stars midfielder to bless him at the EverBank Stadium during West Ham’s preseason tour of the United States of America.
This moment happened in West Ham’s 3-1 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers in Jacksonville, Florida with Kudus scoring the consolation goal for the Hammers.
Since joining West Ham from Ajax Amsterdam in the 2023-2024 campaign, Kudus has excelled for the London side with his brilliant performances leading to him winning a raft of awards including West Ham’s Goal of The Season and Ghana Football Awards Player of the Year.

Kudus featured prominently in Ghana’s wins over Mali and Central African Republic in recent 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
