The Porcupine Warriors, eager to end their recent winless run, were dealt a setback when Bechem United midfielder Kofi Tompuo struck a stunning goal just before the 30-minute mark. Tompuo’s 30-yard volley, a potential goal-of-the-season contender, left Kotoko’s goalkeeper Mohammed Camara with no chance, giving Bechem the lead.
Camara later redeemed himself by denying a powerful effort from Augustine Okrah, helping keep the deficit to a single goal.
However, Kotoko struggled to create significant chances, with their best opportunity falling to Dauda Saaka, who couldn’t convert.
Bechem United secured their third win, moving them up to ninth place with 14 points. Meanwhile, the loss adds to the pressure on Kotoko coach Prosper Narteh Ogum, as his side now sits in sixth place with 15 points, five points behind league leaders Gold Stars.
Kotoko will aim to break their poor form when they host second-placed Nations FC in their next game, while Bechem United will travel to face Berekum Chelsea.
