Ghana defender Tariq Lamptey could be on the move at the close of the January transfer window as Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam are reportedly set to pay £1.5 million for the fullback.
He is set to replace Dutch fullback Devyne Rensch who was recently sold to Italian Serie A side AS Roma after playing for Ajax’s junior side.
According to British media outlet Daily Mail, the 24 year old’s contract runs out at the end of the 2024-2025 season and Brighton and Hove Albion are prepared to sell to Ajax.
Ajax is one of a handful of clubs interested in the Black Stars player whose time at Brighton has been plagued by injuries after joining from Chelsea.
Leicester City, West Ham United, Fulham and Wolves are EPL teams linked with Lamptey; Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon are on Lamptey’s transfer radar reportedly.
Lamptey has enjoyed a successful campaign finding the back of the net scoring three goals in 12 games in all competitions including two goals in nine EPL appearances. He also has two assists to his credit this season.
