Florian Wirtz has officially joined Liverpool, signing a long-term deal after agreeing personal terms and passing his medical.
The 22-year-old German playmaker becomes the latest addition to Arne Slot’s squad this summer and reunites with former Bayer Leverkusen teammate Jeremie Frimpong.
Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com after finalizing the move, Wirtz shared his excitement:
“I feel very happy and very proud. Finally it’s done and I was waiting for a long time – finally it’s done and I am really happy.” He added, “I’m really excited to have a new adventure in front of me… I want to have something completely new, to go out of the Bundesliga and to join the Premier League.”

Wirtz arrives on Merseyside after a stellar run with Leverkusen, where he made his debut at just 17 and quickly rose to become a central figure.
Despite a major injury setback in 2022, he returned to inspire Leverkusen to a historic unbeaten Bundesliga title and domestic cup double in 2023–24.
Last season, he shone in the Champions League with six goals in nine appearances and has already earned 31 caps and seven goals for Germany.

Looking ahead, Wirtz is aiming high with his new club:
I would like to win everything every year! First of all, we have to do our work, I have to make my work. In the end, we want to be successful.
Last season they won the Premier League so my goal is for sure to win it again and also to go further in the Champions League. I’m really ambitious.
Wirtz will officially join up with his new teammates when pre-season begins in July. His squad number will be confirmed later this summer.
