NC Special: Grant delighted with Hearts’ victory over Karela

Hearts of Oak head coach, Kim Grant, was very happy with his team’s performance in their 1-0 win over Karela FC in Week 12 of the NC Special Competition.

The match, which was played at the Accra Sports Stadium, was settled by a Christopher Bonney penalty in the second half and the result gave Hearts top spot on 25 points and passage to the last four of the competition.

After the match, Grant said that he was very satisfied with what he saw from his players especially looking at how difficult Karela made the match.

“Karela are not a bad team and I set my boys up to be compact. Obviously, once we got the goal, they were going to try and get back into the game and that was why I brought in Agyare just to block the spaces.

Overall, I am really pleased because we were very solid. We did well against Dwarfs (in Week 11) and today, we kept things going. I knew that if we kept a clean sheet, we would have a chance. We had a few chances but we failed to score. We had a penalty shout in the first half  and we got the actual penalty in the second.

I am pleased for the boys because they have worked hard. Now, we have 25 points and we look forward to the next game.”

The Phobians face Elmina Sharks in their next game in Accra before completing their first round campaign against Dreams FC in Dawu.
