Isaac Dogboe’s scheduled fight against Michael Conlan on December 5, has been called off after the Irishman injured his ankle in training.

Dogboe, a former WBO super bantamweight world champion, made his return to boxing for the first time since his defeat to Emmanuel Navarette last, with victory over Chris Avalos in August.

Conlan announced the devastating news on his twitter on Friday night.

Absolutely devastated to announce I will no longer be fighting December 5th due to rupturing my ATFL during a training session on Wednesday, back home now recovering. Doc said I’ll be out for 8-12 weeks but I’ll be back sooner, just watch! #ChampionMindset #TheConlanRevolution pic.twitter.com/1QpfJIEzqp

Conlan has been ruled out for 8-12 weeks, pitting an end to the possibility of the clash with Dogboe.

Dogboe was hoping to use the fight to get closer in his quest to regain his lost world title.

Team Dogboe is expected to announce their plans for the rest of the year in the coming days.
