Ghana’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan on Thursday at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium will take place behind closed doors, the Ghana Football Association has announced.

The decision, according to the GFA, is part of measures taken by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), to ensure that games are played in the safest possible way amidst the global COVID-19 pandemic.

CAF announced that all of its AFCON 2021 qualifying matches would have to be played without fans, under strict conditions to ensure that players, referees and officials are protected from the corona virus pandemic.

As part of the conditions for the game to go ahead, CAF is also requiring that all players, technical team members, essential service providers and ball boys undergo a mandatory COVID-19 tests before the match.

Additionally, there will be no post-match press conference, Mixed Zone and Flash photo opportunities as only the photographers of the two teams will be granted access.

Instead, the GFA will conduct a virtual post-match press conference via the official facebook page of the Ghana Football Association.

Ghana face Sudan on Thursday, November 12, 2020 in a match-day three fixture scheduled for 16:00GMT at the Cape Coast stadium.

The Black Stars will then return to Khartoum for the reverse fixture on November 17, 2020.

Ghana have 6 points from their first two games in the qualifying series, having beaten South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe in the group.
