Black Queens coach, Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo has left out captain Elizabeth Addo and striker Sandra Owusu Ansah in her 22 player squad to navigate the crucial 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) penultimate qualifying round tie between Ghana and Nigeria.

The squad consists of three goalkeepers, seven defenders and midfielders each, and five attackers.

The home-based contingent of the senior women’s national team has been preparing feverishly for the tough hurdle with the West African rivals since returning from the Aisha Buhari Cup last month.

And coach Tagoe -Quarcoo has opted to do with 17 players from this home-based core while including five players who ply their trades abroad.

Portia Boakye, as well as Spain-based duo Princella Adubea and Grace Asantewaa, are three foreign-based players who maintain their spots from the Aisha Buhari Cup squad.

There is a return to squad for Israel-based centre-back Blessing Shine Agbomadzi while long-courted FC Cologne forward Eunice Beckmann gets another opportunity to honour her invitation.

The Black Queens play guests to the Super Falcons in the first leg at Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos on Wednesday, October 20, 2021.

The reverse leg then comes off four days later – Sunday the 24th – at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The aggregate winner advances to face that of the clash between Niger and Cote d’Ivoire in the final round of the qualifying series.

Eleven aggregate winners qualify from this stage to join hosts Morocco in the final tournament which will, for the first time ever, be competed by 12 teams.
