CAFWCL: Hasaacas Ladies CEO attributes final defeat to “effective Sundowns game plan”

The Chief Executive of Hasaacas Ladies, Evelyn Nsiah says she knew her side had a problem at the start of the game in their defeat against their South African opponents in the final of the CAF Women’s Champions League.

Goals from Chuene Morifi and Andisiwe Mgcoyi helped Mamelodi Sundowns to beat Hasaacas Ladies 2-0 in a keenly contested final at the 30 June Stadium in Egypt on November 19, 2021.

According the club’s CEO, their game plan did not work because the tournament’s best player was marked out completely hence their inability to string passes together and subsequently create clear cut chances.

“When the game started, I knew something was not right because I know my team and I know how they put their passes together. So, I told myself that regardless the end result, we have come far and I just gave thanks to God.

“Before the game, everyone knew about Evelyn Badu. In two games, she had already scored four goals so their game plan was to cut her off from creating anything for the team which cost us the trophy,” she said.

Despite missing out on the big trophy, four players: Evelyn Badu, Doris Boaduwaa, Perpetual Agyekum and Captain Janet Egyir were named in the tournament’s Best XI Team.

With Evelyn Badu walking home with the best player award and the golden boot.
