Black Stars captain, Andre Ayew might not have been on the pitch on Tuesday night but he was as excited as anybody to see the team make it through to their fourth World Cup.

Andre missed both legs of the tie against Nigeria due to suspension after he was sent off in the Black Stars’ final AFCON 2021 match against Comoros.

However, that didn’t stop him from being at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium to cheer on the team in the first leg.

After the Stars secured a place at the next World Cup on Tuesday, thanks to a 1-1 draw with Nigeria in Abuja, Andre Ayew tweeted his joy at the team’s qualification for the tournament in Qatar.

He even had a special message for Thomas Partey, who deputised for him as captain on the night and scored the vital away goal that sent Ghana through to the World Cup.

“YESSSS!!!!!!!! I love u boys!!!!!! Ghana jollof!!!!!!!!! Thomas Partey stay blessed brother!!!! QATAR 2022!!!!,” Ayew’s tweet said.

Andre will hope to make an appearance at his third World Cup, having been a key member of the Black Stars squads in 2010 and 2014.
