‘Feels good to be back’ – Baba Rahman elated with quick return from injury

Ghanaian defender Abdul Baba Rahman has returned from a hamstring injury with a bang after seeing out the entire duration of Reading Football Club’s latest game in the English Championship.

Rahman started at left wing back and played the entire game as Reading clinched a 2-0 win over Bristol City while picking up a yellow card in the 78th minute.

The former Augsburg defender picked up a hamstring injury in training and was forced to miss Reading’s 3-1 win over Huddersfield earlier this month.

The extent of Rahman’s injury meant he was expected to be out of action for a month according to Reading head coach Paul Ince. (Click highlighted text to read report)

However, Rahman healed quickly and returned to training and further confirmed his readiness to compete for Ghana’s Black Stars at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar in November by putting up a strong performance against Bristol.

His feelings about returning to action were on full display in his Twitter post stating, “Felt good to be back out there again with the guys. Support was unreal as always and the guys kept in a good shift. We recover and go again next weekend. Massive +3 to send you all off to a good weekend.”

Fellow Ghanaian defender at Reading Andy Yiadom missed the game to an accumulation of yellow cards. Bristol City and Ghanaian attacker Antoine Semenyo played 57 minutes in the game.

All three players are in the mix to get selected to Ghana’s 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign in Qatar.
