Black Stars midfielder Mohammed Kudus has opined teammate Andre Ayew’s missed penalty kick wasn’t the ultimate reason for Ghana’s 0-2 loss to Uruguay.

Kudus rather believes missed chances including those from him could have changed the outcome of the game and aided Ghana progress to the Round of 16 stage.

Black Stars Captain Andre Ayew’s penalty kick in the 21st minute was saved by Uruguay goalkeeper Sergio Rochet after Kudus was brought down in the penalty area.

Uruguay midfielder Giorgian de Arrascaeta scored in the 26th minute and 32nd minute in the first half to settle the tie.

Speaking in the mixed zone after the disappointing loss, Kudus fingered missed chances beyond Andre Ayew’s penalty miss.

“I don’t think so. The easiest thing we can do is to blame one person. In the second half I also got chances that I could have scored it can still be also be qualified as a penalty also so we all had chances to have an effect in the game so I really think the penalty has an effect on the whole performance. Andre is a great leader and a great captain” he said.
