The badminton community in Ghana is eagerly anticipating the 2023 All Ghana Open National Badminton Championships, set to take place from August 4 to 6 at the prestigious Trust Sports Emporium in Bukom.

Under the leadership of Evans Yeboah, the President of the Ghana Badminton Association, the tournament promises to be a showcase of talent and passion for the sport.

Yeboah expressed his excitement for the upcoming event, emphasizing the expected level of competition.

He told Citi Sports,

“We expect keen competition and also for new persons who are starting to create recreational opportunities for themselves and able to play the sport at a lower to a higher level. So all types of talent are expected, even people who do not know how to play.”

The tournament’s format will cater to players of all age groups and skill levels, including U15, U19, Seniors, and even corporate teams.

Yeboah emphasized that this event serves as a talent-hunting platform to identify potential players for the 2023 Africa Games to be hosted by Ghana in March 2024.

It will bring together players from all corners of the country, with representation from sub-juniors, juniors, seniors, and veterans divisions.

“This is important as it is being represented by all the nooks and crannies of the country.

There’s also a corporate angle with corporate teams added this time around,” Yeboah explained.

The inclusion of corporate teams showcases the growing interest in badminton and reflects the sport’s popularity beyond traditional competitive circles.

Moreover, the tournament will not only reward skill and performance but also provide opportunities for scholarships, further incentivizing the pursuit of excellence in badminton.

Adding to the event’s prestige, the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II will be the guest of honor, adding an air of regality to the championship.
