Liverpool and English Premier League star forward Mohammed Salah missed a penalty kick attempt in a 2-0 win for Egypt over Tanzania.

Both countries will compete at the 2023 AFCON and the match served as preparation for either nation as the tournament commences on Saturday, January 13.

Egypt is in Group B with Ghana, Mozambique and Cape Verde; Mozambique recently beat Lesotho 2-0 in a similar friendly game this past weekend.

Salah who has 150 EPL goals for Liverpool, smashed his penalty attempt against the bar in the 73rd minute but the ball cannoned off Aishi Manula into the net to seal the win after Salah assisted Mahmoud Trezeguet’s goal in the 32nd minute.

Record seven time AFCON winners Egypt, are scheduled to play against Ghana on Thursday, January 18 in the second round of games at the 2023 AFCON group stage in a highly anticipated matchup.

Unlike Egypt, Ghana is sweating over the fitness of West Ham United midfielder Mohammed Kudus who picked up a slight injury ahead of the Black Stars camp and will miss the team’s friendly game against Namibia tonight.
