Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Okraku, has described Raphael Dwamena’s death as a big loss to Ghana.

He said this in an interview on the sidelines of the former Real Zaragoza and Levante player’s funeral held today at the Adjirigano Astro Turf in Legon.

Dwamena passed away on November 11 after suffering a cardiac arrest while playing in the Albanian League for Egnatia.

Prior to his passing during the game, Dwamena had battled heart related issues that plagued his career and prevented him from signing for English Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion.

Speaking at the funeral that was attended by GFA General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo and former Black Stars players including Isaac Vorsah, Kwadwo Asamoah, Sulley Muntari and Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, the GFA President commiserated with the deceased family.

“Nobody can replace the loss of a life and when it is that the person is so close to you, that’s when you really feel the importance of the demise of the soul.”

“Ghana football has lost a big big talent; somebody perhaps who could have scored loads of goals for our national team.”

Dwamena scored twice in nine games for the Black Stars.
