Ghana center Amida Brimah has edged closer to become the all-time leader in blocked shots in the NBA Gatorade League (G-League).
The Ghanaian player recorded two blocks in Santa Cruz Warriors’ 116-111 win over Rio Grande Valley Vipers to record the record tying feat.
Brimah played just 11 minutes off the bench and registered 10 points, two blocks, two rebounds and a steal in the win.
Beating Grand Valley Vipers moves Santa Cruz (affiliated to the NBA’s Golden State Warriors) to third place in the Western Conference standings and angling towards clinching a playoff spot.
The national basketball champion with the University of Connecticut has 344 blocked shots in G- League history tying Raphiael Putney’s record.
Brimah ranks second on the all-time list with Cezary Trybanski in third place with 321 blocks to round up the top three spots.
The Ghana born player gets the chance to become the out outright leader in the category when Santa Cruz Warriors take on G-League Ignite on Friday, March 15.
After going undrafted in the 2017 NBA Draft, Brimah won the G-League title with Austin Spurs and has played in Europe and won the Belgian league title with Filou Oostende.
Brimah has had short NBA stints on the rosters of the Denver Nuggets and Indiana Pacers.
