Deputy Director-General of the National Sports Authority, Abdul Bawah Majeed, has stated that the Borteyman Sports Complex is accessible to all sports federations for their activities but not for free.

He said this in an exclusive interview with Channel One Sports in his address on the use of sports facilities in the country that has generated a lot of controversy in recent weeks.

The NSA has come under heavy criticism over an online video of a church service held at the $145 million Borteyman Sports Complex that surfaced recently. The complex held events during the 2023 African Games. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“The last time we met with the federations we had an understanding, we will allow the federations to have access to the facilities at Borteyman but not for free. They will pay for it because if not for anything at all, whether we use it or we don’t use it, we pay for electricity, we pay for water, we pay for security.”

Deputy NSA Director-General Majeed Bawah

“If you want to use it as your venue for training, that one it won’t happen…but for competition, yes, you will pay something for purposes of the utilities that we provide.”
