Having my family at a young age helped me- Dede Ayew on dealing with “Women Pressure” [VIDEO]

Former Swansea captain, Andre Dede Ayew, has revealed how he has dealt with “women pressure” as an elite athlete over the years.

The 34 year old Black Stars captain addressed this issue during his lecture on sports psychology delivered at the University of Ghana. He was awarded the Mental Fortitude Award. (Click highlighted text to watch video)

Ayew spoke about his career with the Black Stars including the low point of losing a second AFCON Final in 2015 and the controversy over the team’s captaincy. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

On dealing with special attention from female fans, the 2009 Under 20 FIFA World Cup winner, pointed to having a family at a young age, helped him in this regard.

“I think you have to be able to manage it, I have had my family quite young so also that helped me a lot in that aspect…so for me, all these things were kind of it’s a blessing to me because if you don’t have that sort of stability at that young age…you make mistakes. We try to manage it because it comes a lot from everywhere.”

Dede Ayew is a free agent after seeing out the 2023-2024 season with Le Havre and playing at the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire.
