GFA President Kurt Okraku has disclosed that $742,000 was invested in constructing the first ever FIFA-standard pitch in Ghana’s Upper East Region.

The announcement was made during a ceremony at the GFA headquarters on Tuesday, April 15, where Nissan 4×4 pickups were presented to the various Regional Football Associations.

The new facility is part of the FIFA Forward initiative, which forms a key part of Okraku’s commitment to regional football development.

Speaking at the event Kurt Okraku highlighted how committed FIFA is to the GFA’s agenda’ to fix the fundamentals of Ghanaian football.

The office in France, in Paris, have been very supportive of the Ghanaian FA in our agenda to fix the fundamentals or the very foundation of our football he said

Today, the people, our brothers and sisters in Upper East have access to a FIFA certified full standard football pitch. And that pitch houses the first ever GFE elite football academy.

I am sure somebody will say, how much did that cost? Today I will tell you. That project funded by FIFA cost $742,000 he said

For years, the Upper East Region lacked a single FIFA-standard pitch. The GFA, through the FIFA Forward program, successfully secured approval to build the region’s first-ever standard facility marking a significant step toward infrastructure equity across Ghana.
