Member of Parliament (MP) for Berekum West, Dickson Kyere-Duah, has called for support for the Black Stars ahead of Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Mali on Monday, September 9 at 19:00 GMT.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports, the Parliamentarian who doubles as the President of Eagles Soccer Academy, made the call at a time there is great discontent over the expenditure on the team and Ghana’s 1-1 draw with Chad.
Highlighting Ghana’s record in the qualifiers thus far, five wins, a draw and a loss in seven games to lead Group I, the Berekum West MP stated that the focus on the Black Stars should be on supporting the team to qualify to next year’s World Cup and not budget related matters surrounding the team.
“Seven World Cup qualifiers, five wins, one draw and only one defeat, that is a very good performance so far and topping the group with 16 points.”

“Discussions regarding off-pitch issues should be discouraged…but rather rally Ghanaians for the Black Stars to go into today’s game with unified force so that we win this match.”

“A win against Mali puts us in a very strong position [to qualify]. Not everything is perfect with the team, I’m not saying everything is perfect with the management, I’m not saying is perfect with the technical team because there is nothing like perfection in these matters” he said.
