Ghana’s Black Starlets booked their place in the final of the WAFU B U-17 Cup of Nations after a commanding 2-0 victory over rivals Nigeria at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium on Tuesday night.

Prosper Narteh Ogum’s boys struck early in the first half, with Michael Awuli breaking the deadlock in the 21st minute after a well-worked team move.

Just 10 minutes later, Robinho Yao Gavi doubled Ghana’s advantage with a superb strike from the edge of the penalty area.

The Nigerians pressed hard for a way back into the game, but goalkeeper Solomon Kwame Kesse produced crucial saves to preserve Ghana’s lead.

The Starlets maintained their composure after the break to see out the win and seal their spot in the final.

Their triumph over Nigeria sets up a rematch against hosts Côte d’Ivoire on Friday, October 3.

The Ivorians defeated Ghana 3-0 in the group stage, giving the Starlets added motivation for the showdown.

By reaching the final, the Black Starlets have also secured qualification to the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations for the first time since 2017, marking a major step in their resurgence on the continental stage.
