Head of Communications for the British High Commission, Ghana, Ryan Wilson says the draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup worked out pretty well.
He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports after England got drawn in Group L with Ghana, Panama and Croatia though he admitted that Scotland’s group (Group B) was quite tough with Brazil and Morocco also featuring in it.
Ghana’s Black Stars take on England’s Three Lions on June 23 in Boston with the game set to be the second meeting between the two nations at the top level since delivering an exciting 1-1 draw in an international friendly game.
“Croatia always make me slightly nervous because of that 2018 World Cup [semifinal loss] the loss for me, it’s still painful. We kind of corrected that in the Euros in 2021.”

“I think it’s good to be able to put that right again if we get the chance to and having Ghana, I think it’s great” Wilson said when responding to a question regarding a dream scenario for Ghana to play England considering his position.

He added that, “To be honest, I think the groups worked out pretty well for me personally.”

“There are very few groups I think are favourable to be honest and there is a few that, with the playoffs still to come, might look okay on paper now but all of sudden in March, they could seem a lot harder if Italy gets through for example, the group that they are in could be really hard.”
