Ghana played out a 2–2 draw with South Africa in the first-leg encounter in the third round of the ongoing under-20 FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualifiers at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, February 8, 2026.
Agnes Yeboah opened the scoring for the Princesses in the 33rd minute to give Ghana an early lead.
Ghana came close to doubling its advantage before halftime when Diana Amoako’s long-range effort from the centre of the pitch struck the post.
However, South Africa drew level shortly after the break, equalising in the 48th minute.
The Princesses responded swiftly, restoring their lead in the 52nd minute through Linda Owusu Ansah, who powered home from a corner kick.
South Africa once again found an equaliser in the 60th minute, capitalising on a defensive lapse by the hosts.
Ghana pressed for a late winner, but their efforts were frustrated when Jessica Appiah’s 90th-minute strike was ruled offside.
The Princesses will now travel to South Africa for the return leg on Saturday, February 14, 2026, with the winner advancing to the final round of the qualifiers.
⏰: Full Time at the Accra sports Stadium.
